Frequently asked questions

Pets Plus Us offers pet insurance for all dog breeds as well as cats. It's designed to help provide pet owners with financial protection from the cost of unexpected veterinary care and some related medical costs. By helping with these costs, you’ll be better equipped to make decisions about your pet’s medical care without finances a factor you consider.

A deductible is the amount you’re responsible for paying annually before making a reimbursement claim. Pets Plus Us coverage options include an annual deductible, but this amount only applies if you’re making a claim.

Co-insurance refers to the percentage that you’re responsible for paying prior to the deductible. Referred to as, “your share”, it’s 20% of the costs before the annual deductible. With Accident & Illness, you can choose your deductible as well as your share (10%, 20% or 30%). This makes it easier to set the terms of your plan in a way that meet your budgetary needs.

Pets Plus Us covers visits to any licensed veterinarian, including emergency care providers and specialists. If something happens while you’re traveling, you’ll be reimbursed the cost of U.S veterinary care in Canadian dollars. (Currencies are not converted from US to CAD dollars.)

We won’t cancel your pet’s policy due to age or claims, providing they have Pets Plus Us coverage. Since pets can develop chronic illnesses, all accident and illness coverage comes with our 4Life Guarantee, which guarantees that your pet’s benefits are automatically renewed each year, once they’re enrolled for coverage.

Your pet is never too old to for coverage but getting pet insurance when they’re young is advisable because it means you’ll know what’s covered from the outset. Pet Plus Us will inform you of anything that’s not specifically covered, after your pet’s health records are reviewed.
